FAQ - Retail Customers
 

Q1:How to apply for a multi currency account?
A1:Anybody with legal identification in Netherlands can open an account at our bank with the following documents:
1.A valid Dutch ID Card/Permanent resident card/Dutch passport/Dutch driving license
2.BSN Number (sofi number)/Tax number
3.Address proof (i.e. banking statement, City hall issued address proof, Tax office letter with name and address. All the documents should not be expired in 3 months)
4.Completed and dully signed “Account application form for Retail customers”, you can find this form. You can download this form from our download section.
5.Other documents required by ICBC Amsterdam Branch if necessary
- According to the legal requirement, the bank account is under the local regulation, being subject to the law.
- The account is free of charges.
- Customer can only apply for account for self-use purpose.

Q2:How to apply for an online saving account?
A2:Go to www.icbc.co.nl and click on "Online Service Login". On this page you can use the first application to create your personal secure environment, and will be able to complete the application form and upload the requested documents. The required documents are:
1.Valid Dutch ID Card/Permanent resident card/Dutch passport/Dutch driving license
2.BSN Number (sofi number)/Tax number
3.Address proof (i.e. banking statement, City hall issued address proof, Tax office letter with name and address. All the documents should not be expired in 3 months)
4.FATCA Self certification form (you can find this at our "download" section on www.icbc.co.nl)
After your application is approved you receive an email with the request to make an identification payment. When the identification payment is received and approved, you will be able to use Internet Banking.

 
Q3: Joint Account
A3:A joint account can only be opened in person at the counter. Further this service is only available for customers who are 18 years and older. It can be applied by two unrelated persons. Joint account does not support internet banking and debit card. Only current account and saving account will be opened. Customer can decide if the account needs to be jointly or solely controlled.

Q4:Do I need to apply for the account in person
A4:If you want to apply for a multi currency account, you can also apply through email, post or fax. If you apply on distance, it is not possible to apply for internet banking and debit card. If you only want to apply for online saving account, you can do this through our homepage “online service login”.

Q5:I already have an online saving account; can I change the counter account?
A5:Unfortunately this is not possible, due to fraud prevention; you cannot change your registered counter account to another account.
As an alternative we can suggest you to remove the registered counter account in your internet banking. By doing this, it is possible to do transactions to any other account. To activate the latter, it is required to come in person to our branch to finish the request. After your request is finalized in our branch, you will receive an token, this is to authorize your outgoing transactions.

Q6:I already have an online saving account; can I register a non -Dutch account as my counter account?
A6:No, only accounts held at a Dutch bank are accepted as a registered counter account.

Q7:Is a personal loan service available for retail customer?
A7:Not at the moment

Q8 : I do not have a multi currency account at ICBC Amsterdam, how can I apply for the Debit Card and/or Internet Banking?
A8: When you apply for a multi currency account at our counter, you can also apply for the Debit card and/or Internet Banking at the same time. Please do not forget to bring your documents when you apply at our counter. For more information on application at the counter, please refer to Q1.

Q9: I already have a multi currency account at ICBC Amsterdam, how can I apply for the Debit Card and/or Internet Banking?
A9: Please complete and duly sign the “Add or close Retail products form” and bring your registered ID to our counter. You can find this form in our download section.

Q10:I already have a multi currency account at ICBC Amsterdam. Can I use the "online service login" to apply for Internet Banking?
A10:Unfortunately not, if you want to apply for Internet banking you are requested to come to our branch in person.

Q11:What should I do if I want close my multi currency account?
A11:Please complete and duly sign the “add or close retail products form” and submit this form, including a copy of a valid ID, by fax, post or e-mail to banking@nl.icbc.com.cn.

Q12:Why do I need to submit the FATCA self certification form?
A12:Legislation forces banks to report taxes for U.S. persons all over the world. From 1st July 2014 are obliged to check existing and new customers. For more information we refer you to the announcement "subject to tax in the US" on www.icbc.co.nl
